Our Story

Twenty-Sixteen
First Trip with Each Other
Canada Day 2016 was celebrated stateside (boo) at Birch Bay, Washington. Our first trip away together with Duncan's family. Sparks were flying!

Twenty-Seventeen
One Year In
One year after our first date, we re-created the day in Vancouver. A Vancouver Whitecaps game was the event of choice. Safe to say there were more than two keepers in the stadium that day!

Twenty-Eighteen
Stampeding Towards Forever
We drove to the Calgary Stampede together and spent the entire car ride laughing, singing and learning more about each other. Felt like we had each lassoed ourselves the right one!

Twenty-Nineteen
Backpacking Europe
In the summer of 2019 we traveled around Europe visiting ten countries and sixteen cities along the way. Thousands of steps for Duncan and thousands more for Sam. Evident that this Par-is a good one!

Twenty-Twenty
Ice Castles in Edmonton
We became frequent flyers with Swoop and Flair hopping back-and-forth from BC to AB while Duncan was attending the UofA. Sub-frigid temperatures often but nothing could put this love on ice!

Twenty-Twenty One
Christmas in Vancouver
In 2021 Alberta made one of the most lop-sided trades in human history exchanging Duncan with degree in hand for Sam as she embarked on her Masters degree journey in Edmonton. Winters and occasional breaks were spent together and we continued to learn how to savour every moment. The Christmas lights were bright but not as bright as the light at the end of the long-distance tunnel!

Twenty-Twenty Two
Celebrating Family
Sam's unwavering commitment to Duncan and his family was as evident as ever as she traveled by plane, ferry, and automobile to attend Granny Duck's 80th Birthday. When love can survive Flair Air and BC Ferries, it has to be true!

Twenty-Twenty Three
How I Met Your Mother
We did our best Lily and Marshall impression on Halloween and no-one else's costumes came close to arghhhhs!

Twenty-Twenty Four
She's A Master
Finally, after just over 6 years of Sam or Duncan living in Edmonton, Sam completed what will be the last degree out-of-province (we hope!). This marked the start of our next chapter living together; one that we were both very excited to see begin. Despite the height difference we always knew she would have the higher education!
